TRI-COLOUR ZONALS
“Fancy Leaf” are zonals where the leaf, rather than being plain green, are various colours. Climate and cultural conditions affect the intensity of the colours. The Fancy Leaf are brightest in cool weather, and on new growth. Although they need good light, they need protection from harsh sunlight in summer. Those with the most colour and the least amount of green are the touchiest to grow due to the small amount of chlorophyll in the leaf.
The term “Tri-Colour” means at least three colours in a leaf. Others have two colours. ‘Silver Tri-Colour’ means it has white with green and red/brown. “Gold Tri-Colour’ means it has yellow with green and red/brown.
